Academics

The courses at STEM High School engage students in advanced academic content to improve their critical thinking and persuasive argumentation abilities, strengthen their oral and written communication skills, and stimulate their intellectual capacity and personal responsibility.

Our Approach

STEM High School is guided by four connected design principles—equality, individuality, relevant work, and collaborative design—that set aspirational goals and create a foundation for understanding our approach

Equity

STEM High School believes that equality helps students reach their full potential. Our school is deliberately diverse and integrated, enrolling students from different social and economic backgrounds. Our faculty recognizes the importance of having students from different upbringings working together and employs a variety of academic approaches to accommodate diverse learners in each course and project. STEM High School is committed to help each student to gain admission to the world’s best undergraduate programs and successfully complete it.

Individuality

STEM High School teachers support and challenge each student to discover their weaknesses and qualities and pursue their passions through high academic standards and real-world projects. Recognizing that identity development and personal growth occur in the context of community, our school nurture relationships of trust, caring, and mutual respect among students and adults through program design elements such as small school size, small classes, home visits, advisories, and student collaborative work.

Relevant Work

STEM High School projects integrate science, engineering, design, arts, and philosophy, leading to the creation of meaningful and beautiful work. Students engage in work that matters to them, to their teachers, and to the world outside of school. Students connect their studies to the world through fieldwork, community service, internships, and consultation with outside experts. Our e-learning platform is a common space where collaborative learning, artwork, and prototypes are created and displayed.

Collaborative Design

STEM High School's teachers collaborate to design curriculum and projects and, with students partnership, voice and collaboration, inquire into equitable teaching and learning, school culture and impartial assessment.

Transdisciplinary

The adjective transdisciplinary, rather than the more conventional words interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary, accurately describes MexicoTech Online High School’s approach to education, because it refers to the fact that the members of a research team arrive with different disciplinary backgrounds and often-different research agendas, yet are sufficiently informed about one another’s perspectives and motivations to be able to work together as a collective.

The education that students receive in every course of MexicoTech Online High School’s program is at the intersection of sciences, engineering, design and arts. Although each course is independent and covers the fundamental questions of its field, its content is related to the content of the other courses to provide students with a holistic view of reality that allows them to develop complex mental models of social and natural phenomena. The reality is one, but it can be viewed in a reductionist or holistic way. At MexicoTech Online High School, students receive an education in which science, engineering, design and the arts are combined to see reality and its problems in an integral way that permits them, in addition, to develop an adequate philosophical vision of the consequences of science, technology and the arts in the well-being and dignity of the human person.
